Michael J Dunne

Michael J. Dunne was a resident of Dundee, Illinois, who served as a Sergeant in Company B of the Sixty-ninth Infantry Regiment during the Civil War Era (1861–1865). He is among a small group of Dundee men documented as having enlisted in that regiment, all of whom mustered out together following three months of wartime service.

Known Activities

According to the History of Kane County, Ill. (Joslyn, 1908), Dunne served at the rank of Sergeant in Company B of the Sixty-ninth Illinois Infantry Regiment. The regiment was organized and mustered into service on June 14, 1862, at Camp Douglas, Chicago, and remained on duty there throughout its service — guarding the camp and its Confederate prisoners rather than serving in active field operations.
