Edgar Hoxie

Edgar Hoxie was a resident of Dundee, Illinois who served as a Corporal in Company B of the Sixty-ninth Illinois Infantry Regiment during the Civil War. He is among a small group of Dundee men documented as having answered the Union call in the summer of 1862, serving a three-month enlistment before being mustered out in the fall of that year.

Hoxie enlisted in and was mustered into Company B of the Sixty-ninth Illinois Infantry Regiment, which was organized at Camp Douglas, Chicago, and entered federal service on June 14, 1862. He held the rank of Corporal, placing him among the non-commissioned officers of his company. The regiment's duties during this enlistment were largely garrison in nature — the unit remained at Camp Douglas, guarding the camp and its rebel prisoners rather than serving in active field operations.
